When I first started directing music videos, I had no idea what I was doing. I taught myself everything on the go — by trial, error, and a lot of guesswork. I would have loved to have access to expert knowledge, tailored to my needs. I would have even paid a buck.
Ten years later, I tried to build my first app with a small team. Again, I was flying blind. I wished I could just ask an experienced developer a few targeted questions — without hiring an expensive agency or spending weeks digging through forums.
Another decade passed. I bought a plot of land and started developing an e-mobility hub powered by solar energy. Same story. I needed quick, reliable advice from people who had done it before — just a few straight answers would've saved me time, money, and stress.
Each time, I learned the hard way. Eventually, I realized: if a service like that doesn't exist — one that lets you ask human experts (and not AI) exactly what you need, when you need it — then I should build it. Not just for myself, but for anyone on a learning curve.
When I started sharing my stories on LinkedIn, people began messaging me. Some had simple questions, others needed deeper advice. That's when I thought: There should be a better way to manage this kind of exchange.
That's why I built Skillbid — a pay-as-you-go platform for expert advice. Fast. Honest. On your terms.
Skillbid is being created with Love in Berlin, Germany with a small, agile ambitious team of 5.
Enjoy the platform!
Cheers,

Uwe
